Our Wayanad Trip



The Plan for Taking a weekend trip to Wayanad came all of a sudden. One of our office collegue Dr.Rahman was telling me few weeks back that he was planning to go to Kodaikkanal for a family Trip. Then I told him that I too would love to Join with him. So we were planning for the Kodaikkanal Trip. In the meantime, Anil Uncle had gone to Wayanad on a personal Trip and he mentioned that the Place is very beautiful. So we decide that we will plan for a Trip to Wayand.

We chose the First weekend of May for our Travel as Thanvi had also on Off on May 1st. We were 2 Families.. One was our Friend Dr.Rahman & his wife Rumana. We started off from Banaglaore at 5:00 am in the morning in our car. The Drive was very comfortable till Mysore. Reaching Mysore, we had to take NH 212, where we lost the way. We went Inside Mysore City & circled there for sometime searching for the route. But Later on , we came to know that the route is different, we came out of the City & took the correct route.

We had our break fast around 8 am ...We had reached Gundulpet by around 10 am. From Gundulpet, the journey is through the Bandipur Forest...This was an amazing journey and the forest was very beautiful...The Drive was also very comfortable..

We had reached Sulthan Bethery by around 10.30 am. We decided to see EDAKKAL Caves on the way to Kalpetta.We reached Edakkal Caves by 11 AM. We parked the car & had to walk 1 km to reach the entrance of the cave. At the entrance , there was a long Queue to take the tickets...and worst of all there is only one Entrance/Exit into the cave...So at a time only Entry can happen or Exit can Happen...so While People are entering the cave, Exit cannot happen...so This process takes a lot of time....We had to stand in the Queue for 1 Hr to get the entry Tickets.....After getting the tickets, we moved into the cave..The Uphill journey in the cave was very interesting...With little space to walk....Upon reaching the cave, I really felt sad coz there was nothing to see inside the cave, except for few lines & drawings inside the cave.....I really don't understand why people take so much of Pain to see the Lines & drawings......

But, outside the cave there is a breathtaking view of Wayanad..This was really beautiful sight...We had taken some good snaps over there.....Coming down the cave was a tougher task than going inside....It took around 1 Hr to come outside...We were out of the cave by around 1 :30 PM....

We had a small rest thereafter ( I brought Vettu Cake from the Bakery)& then we proceeded to see Meenurutty Waterfall...We had reached the place by around 2 PM, But after parking we had to walk around 1.9 Kms to reach the entrance of the waterfall..Upon reaching the entrance, we were all exhausted , and we decided no to enter into the waterfall as we gain had to walk another 1 KM to reach the waterfall...So, we decided to come back ...On Return , we took a Trip Jeep & Paid 50 rs for taking us back to the Car Parking

After reaching the Car Park, we started our journey to Kalpetta...On the way to Kalpetta, we had our Lunch around 4 PM.. We reached Kalpetta by around 5 PM and since we had time left we decided to go and see pookattu lake...It started raining heavily & by the time we reached pookattu lake , it was already closed. So we decided to Visit the lake early morning Next day.

We proceeded to our Aunty's House ( Tono's Classmates House) for our Stay. The House was so beautiful & we were so surprised to see such a good house...So Beautiful & so well planned.. We had a very pleasant stay there. At Night, aunty had ordered Food for us...Delicious Chicken Fry, Chappathi, Pototta...mmmmmm..Mouth Watering....

We woke up in the morning & I went to church for the mass (Sunday Mass). There after, Aunty had prepared Breakfast for us ( Appam & Chicken)...So tasty..After having breakfast, we left from the house....On the way to Pookattu Lake,we got Anil Uncle & Appu also...

We reached pookattu lake by 10 AM..We went for boating..We took a 2 Seater boat & it was a 20 Mins Boating...That was really good..After the boating, we had a walk around the Pookattu lake...The walk inside the forest was really nice.....

We left pookattu lake by 12 PM and then we had our Lunch at a Kallu Shappu...( Toddy Bar)... We had 1 Glass of Toddy, Kappa & Chicken ...Really good...

Then we proceeded for our return journey..We started from Kalpetta by around 2 PM & we were back in Bangalore by 8 PM.

Overall, It was a very happy & pleasant weekend trip

Its all about Kids

I used to wonder when my kids ( 4 Year Old , 2 Year Old) play with my smart phone. They would have observed me working on the phone for couple of times and now it looks like they are experts on my phone. How fast are these children getting accustomed to new technologies. This also pointed me to another side of parenting. How fast are these kids picking up from what their parents do. I am sure mobile phones are completely a new entity for a kid. Unless he/she observes and learn, he will not be able to understand the device. Look at their observation power. They grab the thing so fast that even by 50 year old mother struggles for months to study about the same smart phone. How does all these happen ? Kids do have tremendous observation skills and most of their learning happens through observing.
