The Volvo Service

I travel by bus everyday to work. Often I am faced with the nuisance of the various types of busses. Some rush each other in a hurry to get more passengers, and others are in no mood to get anywhere, thereby not exactly attracting too many passengers. The “premier service” aka Volvos that is in demand, (at least by the IT crowd, in summer) is usually what I take in the mornings, basically ‘cos it gets me to work fastest. I notice how (and am often aggravated by) these busses try everything possible to get more passengers. They resort to racing, stalling, even fights involving threats and once or twice damages to vehicles. But yes. The high operational costs need to be reclaimed. Sometimes I think. No one can put a price on Christ’s blood, the cost of our salvation. We, are like the busses, only our destination is Christ, we don’t simply do rounds in Bangalore (I hope). Our aim is to take as many people to Him as we can. Are we running the “Good Race”? Do we quarrel with other...

Mazhakkalam - The Rain

There is rain in my memories, and there are lots of memories with the June rains. Wearing new Uniforms, carrying new umbrella and getting ready for school on June 1st. Standing at the Bus stop and praying hard that rain should not come, but even rain goddess closed her eyes on us. While I was struggling hard to pull out Mathew & John, and get in the bus there she came. . The rain, cheating me and teasing me, making me all wet. Getting in the bus with wet umbrella and bags, and shouting at all Chettan’s and Chechi’s for not getting wet in the rain. But I didn’t felt that anger when I came back from school that evening. After all, it’s evening and there are no worries even if I get drenched. I felt sad if rain doesn’t come to talk. And if it comes, I just enjoy the initial small drops and there after I open my umbrella. I could see, people catching fishes in the muddy waters after the rain. I too used to stand near them and see the catch. The fishes getting on the Fish hook...

Wedding Anniversery

The purpose of this mail is to share an experience of customer service that me and my wife experienced Yesterday. We had celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary yesterday and as a part of that we decided to have dinner from Dominos. I called at a nearby dominos outlet and ordered at 8.45 PM. We waited till 9: 30 for the delivery and it did not happen. I made a second call at 9: 30 PM and enquired about the delivery. To my surprise the Customer Care Executive told me that there was no order placed by me . I was shocked. I asked him to verify the records at 8.45 PM , and he confirmed to me that there was no orders entered. I told him about my order and even the name of the executive who had taken the order. But, they told me the same old story and mentioned that if I need, I can place a fresh order now and they will deliver it in 20 Mins. I got angry and told them that I am not interested in any orders and I disconnected the phone. After 10 mins, I got a call from the Dominos O...

Role Change

Why is this happening to me? Why am I rejected of the Lord’s love? Doesn’t God want to see me happy? A question that most of us ask a trillion times when we are faced with problems in our life. Even I had the same question yesterday evening. This question was there all throughout the evening till I got an answer from the Lord. The below sharing is all about such a situation. It has been my wish for the past 1 year to move out from my current role in Quality Department and to explore carrier opportunities in some other streams. I came across a good opening with another department in Infosys and I was very keen to move into that. The catch was that movement is possible only if my current manager releases me. I was hopeful about the release. Now, You might be thinking why I should look out for a change. Several reasons , but the major one being the learning opportunities which I was missing in the current role & also neither my manager nor my department was able to give me a cla...

Emotional Equation

When we were in school, we learned algebra and most of us were puzzled with the game of constants and variables in an equation. Most of the time we had to play with these variables ( X, Y OR Z being the hero’s) and constants (A, B or C ). This is true and we see it in our daily life also. The constant in our life’s equation is nothing but The Suffering. There will always be sufferings. You can’t escape from that. There could be sufferings in your Job, in your families; in your relationships etc .But there is also a variable in your life which is nothing but The Meaning: How do we find a sense of meaning, even in the most difficult times? Now the interesting part is establishing a relationship between constants and the variables. I would always love to define the EMOTIONAL EQUATION OF A CHRISTIAN LIFE as UN HAPPINESS = SUFFERING - MEANING This is a question that I ‘would love to ask myself a 1000 times because if you can find meaning in your troubles, you will lessen y...

Be Salt in Other's Life

Scripture: Luke 14:34-35 34 "Salt is good; but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltness be restored? It is fit neither for the land nor for the dunghill; men throw it away. He who has ears to hear, let him hear." This may be one of the beautiful example of discipleship. Throughout his preaching, we find that Jesus always uses ordinary images to convey the extraordinary truths . In this Gospel also, he uses salt to teach us about the kingdom of God. Salt, as we all know, is an indispensable part of our life. It serves the trivial purpose of Purification , Preservation and Penetration. Without salt , most of our dishes might turn tasteless. Salt is also an excellent preservative . Even though Salt is having these Qualities, can we ever imagine drinking a cup of salt water or eating a T-spoon of salt ? We never does that because salt needs to be mixed with other items to get its purpose served. Jesus in this example, is helping us to relate our lives to s...

A peep into Christian Sustainability

Sustainability - Ah, Now what is this all about !!! This word is making headlines in newspapers. Most Organizations these days are speaking in the language of sustainability. They talk of Green Energy, Green Lifestyle, Protection of Water and other Natural Resources etc. etc. You would have observed that If you go to any of the supermarkets like SPAR, Big Bazzar, Total; they charge you for the plastic carry bags because Plastic bags are non –biodegradable and therefore it’s usage is not recommended. There is a strong campaign for carpooling while commuting, more and more scientific ways for managing house hold wastes, methods for conserving water …These are all day in day out examples of sustainability. So sustainability is becoming an integral part of our life. The most common definition of sustainability may be “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” which simply me...
