What Managers Need

It's a common problem in IT departments everywhere: as a company grows and market dynamics change, business needs must keep pace. The IT department finds itself continually pushed by upper management demands for low cost, flexible IT systems with quick turnaround time. Though the juggling act isn't easy, there are steps managers can take to create an IT department that's ready for whatever the future holds. The key is to be agile, adaptive, and proactive. Let's have a look at some different scenarios -- and occasional misconceptions -- commonly found in IT departments: “We are just a support arm” - IT organizations perceive themselves as "only" support arm for various business units. As a result, many teams work in isolation rather than in a collaborative environment despite being tasked with important responsibilities like operational enablement, process automation, and ensuring low system downtime. Unfortunately, this means that many companies lose sight o...

My Sister

Image
My sister is the one who makes my life easier to live, Whom I can share my likes and dislikes with, She is the one who tells me her vast secrets and feelings And asks me to do the same, And has the rights to know all my friends' name . She makes me feel comfortable when I am sad , She guides me the right way when I am bad She is more than any word can tell, She holds me when I tend to fall. She comes to know my problems through my eyes, She is of course naughty but wise, She is my life's sunrise. And my Sister you are the most beloved to me As you care so much for me!

Management Lessons from Chak De India

Nothing is better for you than your biggest failure If you have the talent, passion and commitment, you can make underdogs win Unless pushed to limits, your team will not perform at its best People always want easy things, and it is difficult to overcome cynicis Be strict and straight with your team. You don’t have to always be nice with them In short, be ruthlessly compassionate! Strategy is important - know the team members individual strengths and weaknesses There is no alternate to hard work, not even smart work! If you are after a cause big enough, you will always have people to support you Follow your heart!

• Pillai Sir = Sharuk Khan .( Pillai sir left SCMHRD for a better cause…like Shah Rukh Khan resigned from the captancy of Indian Men’s Hockey Team..Pillai sir waited for some time before his former students came forward to help him...Same way, in the movie Shah Rukh Khan is waiting for 7 years, after which his friend gave him a breakthrough opening) • Pillai sir’s preparation before he started SCMLD….Shah Rukh Khan was preparing before he accepted the captaincy of Team India Women’s Team. • Pillai sir had a vision, dream when he left SCHMRD..He wanted to build an institute that will become No : 1 in Pune and in India and rise above the Symbiosis..Shah Rukh also left Team India with a dream…To show in front of the Indians that he was not a traitor and he is a real sportsman. VALUE HAS A VALUE ONLY IF ITS VALUE IS VALUED

Do you feel that people don’t value you or don’t take you seriously? Do you feel the urge to let people know that you exist in this world and want to get noticed? Read more to understand how to create value for you by learning how to value yourself. I am writing this article in conjunction to having a talk with my friend and his prime complaint was that no body values him and his work. Not exaggerating, but he would use the phrase "People don’t appreciate me" after each complaint. He was so depressed and broken that he decided to quit his job in search for a place where his work would be appreciated and he would be respected. I inquired about his daily work routine to understand why he felt that he was not being recognized by his boss or his colleagues. Why was it that he was not able to get his work recognized? On speaking with him I understood that he was not showing the value of the work that he did. From my past experience I understand that a person does not show value in...

I have this irresistible urge to rave and rant about my ex-roomie today. It might take me a couple of posts, but trust me, it’ll be worth the read. And for all those who didn’t know I have a roomie- yes, I did have one, and a very handsome roomie indeed. He was a brilliant Guy,but I don't think I can stop by just calling him brilliant..He is above all that words..He was not just my room mate but lot more than that..A friend..A brother..A Guide..and what else you can call him..He was all to me... We were together just for two years, but now I feel as if we were knowing each other for long..long..years.I still remember the 1st day I met you..Man , U were bashing at me so hard at the GD of SCMLD..U were actually breaking my heart, by breaking all the points that I was trying to put foreward in that GD..But I loved it..I always love playing with LIONs.. Then when I met you at SCMLD, I was quite surprised.Because I thought t...

Five Point Someone...Chetan Bhagat ..A Review

Amazing..Its the only word that I can describe for this book..Every page in the book is so exciting that the reader's will get thrilled about what is about to come next page..The author has described the character's in a very interesting way.. Each incident in the book tells us about how difficult and at the same time how exciting is the life at the technology center of our country..The so called brainy college that we call the IITs...Its this place that brings out thousand or more top most brains in our country , for which the top most companies across the world are throwing millions to get them.... Alok, one of best friend was a typical school kid type person...He had lot of burdens in his life..Had to take care of his sick Father, take care of his sister's marriage..and lots of othe...

To all the MBA aspirants

TOI reports: 'AICTE warns b schools running from rented buildings'. In fact, AICTE has threatened to 'close down' all b schools and engineering colleges which are functioning out of rented buildings or sheds if they do not shift to approved permanent sites with 'full facilities’. Wonderful, you might say. The question is what are 'full facilities'? And is physical infrastructure the only indicator of institutional excellence?? Let me tackle the first question first. There was a time when one could pinpoint the necessary 'facilities' a good techincal institute must have. Chief among these would be a well equipped computer centre with a conducive student: PC ratio. And a well stocked library. Additionally, engineering colleges need laboratories. B schools do not have any such requirement.Cut to the present. A large number of b schools now ask students to purchase a laptop when joining the course and simply provide wifi access. Libraries still exist, bu...

Our Economy

Japanese save a lot. They do not spend much. Also Japan exports far more than it imports. Has an annual trade surplus of over $100 billions, Yet Japanese economy is considered weak, even collapsing. Americans spend, save little. Also US imports more than it exports. Has an annual trade deficit of over $400 billion. Yet, the American economy is considered strong and trusted to get stronger. But where from do Americans get money to spend? They borrow from Japan, China and even India. Virtually others save for the US to spend. Global savings are mostly invested in US, in dollars. India itself keeps its foreign currency assets of over $50 billions in US securities. China has sunk over $160 billion in US securities. Japan’s stakes in US securities is in trillions. Result:The US has taken over $5 trillion from the world. So, as the world saves for the US, Americans spend freely. Today, to keep the US consumption going, that is for the US economy to work, other countries have to remit $180 bi...

Love for Humanity

The words that you are reading are not mine.I am just an instrument in the creation of these words.I am presenting the heart of a person who really want to tell something to this world. I came before you all sometime back with my article “Where is my relegion?”I really wanted to tell something more to you all.I gave you the concept of my relegion, about my God and about my belief. But unless and untill I share with you all what made me to think in my own way , you will not be able to accept my thoughts. The people that I have met, the ideas that I got from them, the experiences that they all have shared with me,I think it was enough and more for a person like me to rethink about my believes and practises. Let us try to get deeper into our inner self. Being born as a Brahmin, or being born as a Christian, or being born as a Muslim, how many times we all felt proud about our relegion. To be proud about our relegion, it is really great thing. But, try to recollect - how many time...

For My Sweet Mummy-Love U Too Much

Image
My sweet Mummy, I thought I heard you call my name, out in this chilling cold and night. I really thought, I thought I saw your face. But after a second look I saw I made a clear mistake. Mummy, I Miss You And nights I just wish you were here with me So we can laugh and talk again. Mummy I miss you But I'll just kiss you and send it on the wind 'cause you know I plan to see you again. So much I wanted to show you. So much I wanted to give. I thought our time would be much longer. Missing My Best Friend. I have much to tell you I have much to hear from you For I wanted to see you... See you ...atleast once in day When I feel so alone somedays When I am not well some nights When I have none to talk before sleeping.. I wish..You were here sometimes.. Mummy, this is for you. I miss you so much and I love you "so good"!!
