Being Pride ...
PRIDE ---- Ah, a mother of all SINS. Whatever SINS you take up, ultimately all would lead to this single sin of PRIDE. It is a long long struggle for me with this SIN. Too difficult to overcome unless I am protected with the power of the SPIRIT. Even though, I wake up in the morning with a desire tom kill this SIN today, but I end up being in this SIN many a times in the day. It could be simple instances like show off, praising yourself, over confident about self, feeling proud of your personal possessions, thinking others as inferior towards you, not considering the feelings of others, being dominant in the conversations and meetings....the list goes endless...
And the sad part is that you end up in this SIN without getting noticed. You tell ties, others can find it out. You don't obey your parents, you will be notices. You bribe, you are noticed. But when you feel PRIDE in your heart, it is not notices by anyone. Only the ONE above can see your heart. In that way, this is also a SILENT KILLER of your soul. You keep the PRIDE in your heart and slowely it affects the entire body and kills you.
I remember the verses of this beautiful malayalam song " Ethra cheruthakan ethra valarenam esho"...The LORD , almighty one has simplified himself as small as a bread, to enter into our hearts. How much more should mortals like me to be simplified. When My LORD, simplifies himself to nothing, I need to go much beyond that and become NOTHING --
There are some simple test to understand if you have this SIN with you.
1. You feel difficult to SMILE at somebody
2. You always bring I into your conversations
3. You always look for OPPORTUNITIES to showcase yourself
4. You forget to THANK
5. You avoid HELPING your brother and sister
6. You DOMINATE in your arguments with Spouse, Children etc
7. You SHOUT
8. You get ANGRY for no reasons
Let us pray to the Lord that we become smaller and smaller every day, so that the LORD in us becomes bigger and bigger..
